Kennedy running in Parkdale

So, Gerard will run in his old riding. Some may call out that we have a woman stepping down to let him run, and criticize him for that. Some may say, "he should have tried for a tougher seat out west" (although I don't think he ever really wanted to).

But this was the obvious choice. Give him his old seat back, which he should hopefully win fairly easily, and which will be a gain of a seat for the Libs. Also, by giving him a fairly safe seat, he'll be freer to campaign around the rest of Ontario, and help us win a few more which we have last time.

Seems like Sarmite Bulte could have won this one and his choice to run there is unfortunate as he not only displaces a female candidate but a female MP, if he wins. This just means less seats for Liberal men to run in elsewhere, and I hope they realize that. Dion intends to keep his promise which actually means he will prevent a man from running somewhere else not a woman.

Smart choice. It's an NDP seat and Kennedy is, far and away, the best candidate to win it back.

At the risk of being cocky, I have already given the Liberals one pickup on my electoral map ;)

Sarmite is not a sitting member and would have a very hard time in ousting the current NDP MP who defeated her. Gerard is the surest way that this riding will be liberal once more.

I think Parkdale-High Park and Mississauga-Streetsville can probably safely be moved into the Liberal column now. The good news for the Liberals is they are probably around 20 potential Liberal gains in Ontario while only around 10 potential Liberal losses so as long as we don't screw up we should gain seats, still I wouldn't put a huge amount of money as the electorate is volatile and pundit predictions are often wrong. After all, in November 2005, Stephen Harper couldn't win an election, in Spring 2006, the Liberals were destined to spend a lengthy time in opposition and now the Liberals are likely to return to power with a minority government. What it will be next month, who knows.
