Anders

How a man who has called Nelson Mandela a terrorist can continue to win a seat in parliament astounds me, at least he'll have to face an actual nomination fight now that a judge has overturned his sham of a nomination race. While Anders may benefit us Liberals politically by his insane comments and views, and while he may be the best chance the Liberals have to win a seat in Calgary, I think people would be overly happy to see him ousted. Now, please Glen, don't switch back now that the Tories are forced to be democratic!

Mandela was at one time what some would today call a terrorist. Mandela admits that he particpated in the planning of violent bomb campaigns. It was only later in Robin Island that he and the ANC realized that they were and would get no where with armed resistance and insurrection. So what of it?

"so what of it?"

did anders refer to the apartheid regime as terroristic??? using violence to overthrow a terrorist regime is terrorism, but using violence to maintain a terrorist regime is not??? quite the double standard there.

I totally agree. But the way this whole bullshit debate has been framed is to re-write history so that liberals do not have to "unpack" what a terrorist is and why it is not a very meaningful concept when applied to situations of national liberation struggles be that in Palestine, Ireland, or South Africa.

It also is a refusal to engage the conservatives on who else should be included if the definition is expansive enough to include the ANC and Mandela.

That is why we say "So what of it?"
